California Road
After the discovery of gold in California in 1848, in 1849 military troops marked out the California Road from Fort Smith along the Canadian through Oklahoma, a route that was used extensively by emigrants until 1861.

Chisholm Trail
The Chisholm Trail was a route used in the late 19th century in the Western United States for cattle drives, the movement of cattle overland. The trail stretched from southern Texas across the Red River to Abilene, Kansas, and was used to drive cattle northward to the railhead of the Kansas Pacific Railway, where they were shipped eastward. Civilian Conservation Corps
The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was created on March 31, 1933, in President Franklin D. Roosevelt's first month in office. The CCC was an interdepartmental work and relief program that sent young, unemployed men from the cities to work on conservation projects in rural areas at a dollar a day. Great Western Cattle Trail
In 1874, the cattle ranchers of the San Antonio, Texas area began blazing a trail with their large herds of longhorn cattle through western Indian Territory to the railhead at Dodge City, Kansas and to markets beyond into Canada and the northwest territories of America. It's estimated that over 11,000,000 head of longhorns passed over this trail.
